Helped with my flight plan

I needed to figure out some flight options for a last-minute trip, so I tried out the ExpertFlyer Basic Membership. It was pretty easy to use the Flight Timetables and see what was available. It definitely made planning easier. I didn't get into all the fancy stuff, but for just checking schedules, it did the trick. Didn't have any problems, it just worked.

Consistent and reliable service

This is my third year with ExpertFlyer Premium Membership, and it continues to be a go-to for my travel planning. I mainly use the Flight Availability Search and Seat Alerts. This time, I set up a few Seat Alerts for a specific flight, and they worked exactly as expected, just like they have on previous trips. It's really consistent, and I appreciate that I know what I'm getting every time. No surprises, which is exactly what I want from a service like this.

Fantastic tool for finding flights!

I just used the ExpertFlyer Premium Membership for the first time, and it was incredible! The Award and Upgrade Availability Search found me exactly what I needed for my long-haul flight. I was able to snag an upgrade that I thought was impossible to get. The Seat Alerts are also brilliant; I set one up and got notified super fast when a window seat opened up. I will absolutely be using this for all my future travels. So glad I found this service!

Good data, minor UI issues

I signed up for the ExpertFlyer Premium Membership to track award seats for an upcoming trip. The Award and Upgrade Availability Search feature was really powerful and helped me find some options I hadn't seen elsewhere. The Seat Maps were also useful for picking better seats on my flights. My only small gripe is that the interface felt a little dated and could use a refresh to make navigation smoother. Overall, good value for the detailed info it provides.

In-depth look at Premium Membership

I recently subscribed to the ExpertFlyer Premium Membership, primarily for the Award and Upgrade Availability Search and the Seat Alerts. The onboarding was straightforward, and I found the search functions to be incredibly detailed, allowing for specific filtering by airline, cabin, and fare class, which is superior to what I've encountered on other platforms. I set up several Seat Alerts for an upcoming international trip, and they functioned flawlessly, sending timely email notifications. The Flight Timetables and Flight Status features were also robust, providing accurate real-time data. While the interface is functional, a more modern design could enhance usability, especially for new users. However, for serious travelers, the depth of data provided on Aircraft Equipment and Minimum Connection Times is invaluable. It's a powerful tool for optimizing travel plans, though it does require a bit of a learning curve to utilize all its features effectively.

Does ExpertFlyer actually show award seats for all airlines? Like, even the smaller international ones?

S Steve V. 2 months ago
Not all of them, no. They cover a lot, but I've noticed some gaps, especially with really niche carriers. It's good for the major ones though.

It supports most of the big alliances. For specific airlines, you'd have to check their list on the site. Southwest is a no-go for award space, for example.

Can you actually use this on your phone? Or is it a desktop-only kind of site?

B Beth Kim 2 months ago
It's a website, so it works on your phone's browser, but it's not super optimized. Kinda clunky sometimes.

There's no dedicated app, but the mobile site is passable for quick checks. Better on a tablet or desktop though for all the data.

How accurate are the seat alerts? Don't want to sign up if it's gonna be slow or miss things.

D Derek Brooks 2 months ago
They're pretty fast in my experience. I got an alert for an aisle seat on a packed flight within minutes of someone canceling.

I've found them to be very accurate, especially for premium cabins. It uses direct access to the GDS, so it's as real-time as it gets afaik.

Thinking of getting ExpertFlyer but also looking at Point.me. Anyone used both and have a preference?

D Daisy M. 2 months ago
ExpertFlyer is way better for deep dives into specific flights and seat maps. Point.me is more for finding general award routes across different programs.

M Mike J. 2 months ago
They're kinda different tools. EF is for real-time availability and upgrades. Point.me is more about finding where to use your points.

What's the main difference between Basic and Premium? Is Premium worth the extra cost for occasional international trips?

F Faith Torres 2 months ago
Basic is pretty limited. Premium unlocks all the good stuff like award availability, upgrade space, and multiple seat alerts. Definitely worth it if you're serious about finding good flights.

If you only travel once a year, Premium might be overkill. But if you're trying to snag specific award seats or upgrades, Basic won't cut it. The seat maps are nice though.
